The Johnson CL Series Thruster Disc Brakes are engineered to deliver exceptional performance and reliability across a range of industrial applications. Available in five distinct models, these compact brake units are constructed with a robust fabricated steel mechanism, featuring major pivots with non-ferrous bushings and high-temperature resistant friction linings. Each unit is equipped with a standard Eltma Elhy EB series IP56 thruster, making them ideal for use in mechanical handling equipment, cranes, winches, stacker reclaimers, and conveyors.
Designed with versatility in mind, the Johnson CL Series offers a variety of options to meet specific operational needs. Users can choose from features such as a self-adjusting mechanism, a mechanical release lever, and limit switches to monitor release, set, or wear. For enhanced control, electronic modulated torque can be managed via a remote pedal. Additionally, the brakes can be customized with special materials, tests, and finishes to meet high integrity requirements.
The thruster data for the Johnson CL Series is impressive, with the standard EB Series utilizing transformer oil BS148, typically Shell diala ‘B’. The brakes boast rapid operating times, with a brake release occurring in approximately 0.1 seconds and brake setting between 0.25 to 0.5 seconds, depending on size and brake spring load. Optional features include high-temperature viton seals, internal preset hydraulic delay valves, a dust-protecting hood, an internal return c-spring, a converter unit for DC supply operation, and an explosion-proof design compliant with EExd Group I and II standards.
For those seeking alternative thruster options, the Johnson CL Series accommodates a range of choices. Thrusters from Johnson, Eldro, Elhy, and Elco to DIN 15430 standards are available, as well as custom Johnson DC models. Additionally, KT/TKF type thrusters can be supplied, with flame-proof options available for environments requiring additional safety measures.
