The Johnson GDA Series DC Magnetic Drum Brakes are engineered to deliver exceptional performance and reliability across a wide range of industrial applications. With 17 distinct models available, these brake units are equipped with a DC tractive type magnet featuring an encapsulated coil, a robust fabricated steel mechanism, and durable ductile iron brake shoes. Designed for high-temperature environments, the non-asbestos friction linings ensure optimal safety and efficiency. These brakes are ideal for use in mechanical handling equipment, cranes, winches, elevators, lifts, rolling mills, mixers, and more.
Each model in the Johnson GDA Series offers a variety of options to enhance functionality and adaptability. Users can choose from features such as a self-adjusting mechanism to compensate for wear, a mechanical release lever, and limit switches to monitor release, set, or wear. For added convenience, a hydraulic override by remote pedal is available, along with special materials and finishes tailored to high-integrity specifications. Additionally, separate enclosed control units can be provided for both DC and AC supplies, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems.
The dimensions of the Johnson GDA Series DC Magnetic Drum Brakes are versatile, accommodating both metric (DIN standard code: DL) and imperial (A.I.S.E. standard code: SMAA) measurements. Non-standard drum sizes and base fixings are also available to meet specific requirements. The magnetic brake actuator is constructed from all-fabricated steel, featuring a short stroke DC tractive type design. The resin encapsulated coil is insulated to Class F standards, with an optional replaceable coil arrangement for ease of maintenance. Rated for continuous operation up to 40ºC, the actuator is protected from dust and drips by a neoprene gaiter, and the terminal box meets IP55 standard enclosure specifications.
For detailed specifications, the DIN Brake Model Data and AISE Brake Model Data tables provide comprehensive information on drum diameters, magnet sizes, maximum torque, and weight for each model. Whether you require a compact solution like the GDA100 with a 100 mm drum diameter and 32 Nm torque or a more robust option like the GDA630 with a 630 mm drum diameter and 5885 Nm torque, the Johnson GDA Series has a model to suit your needs. Similarly, the AISE models range from the SMAA4 with a 4-inch drum diameter and 24 Lbft torque to the SMAA30 with a 30-inch drum diameter and 9000 Lbft torque, ensuring a perfect fit for any application.
